My background
I’m Angela, a proud mom of three and happily married for over a decade. Originally from Taiwan, I’ve called Ontario, Canada, home since I was 16.
Food and travel are my passions. I adore ramen, pizza, and tacos, and dream of visiting the Maldives and Scandinavia.
With a background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), I spent over 10 years in Autism services, deeply enjoying helping clients enhance their quality of life through skill-building.
My Journey
Balancing a full-time job in Autism Services while studying for my Master’s degree in Behaviour Science left me with little time to focus on my own nutrition and fitness. I often ate mindlessly and ignored fullness cues, especially during stressful periods.
Becoming a mother added new challenges. Despite wanting to be a healthy role model for my children, I found myself prioritizing their needs over my own. I made some efforts to improve my eating habits, but I still struggled with overeating and emotional eating, especially in the evenings.
My journey was also hindered by an ‘all or nothing’ mindset when it came to health and wellness. I believed that if I couldn’t do it perfectly, there was no point in trying. This mindset and unhelpful thinking pattern only led to frustration and setbacks, holding me back from making meaningful progress.
My perspective on health shifted dramatically when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Witnessing her battle made me realize that health should always be a priority, not something to be put off until later. I learned that making small, impactful changes is not only possible but also that their effects accumulate over time and complement each other. It doesn’t need to be restrictive or done perfectly to be effective.
Motivated to enhance my well-being and support others on their journeys, I invested in coaching to guide me in improving my health. I pursued additional training, certification, and supervision in nutrition, health coaching, mindset, body image, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These experiences not only transformed my approach to health and well-being but also equipped me to assist others in achieving their health and wellness goals.
My Coaching Philosophy
I believe that true health and wellness extend beyond dietary choices and exercise routines. Merely adhering to a list of “good” foods, hitting a step count, or following a strict exercise regimen is insufficient for long-term well-being. Instead of fixating solely on WHAT we do, I emphasize the importance of understanding HOW and WHY we approach our health behaviors.
My coaching philosophy revolves around empowering clients to enact lasting changes by focusing on skill-building, fostering mindset shifts, cultivating psychological flexibility, and leveraging their innate strengths and values. I believe that genuine transformation occurs when clients develop the skills and confidence to navigate life’s challenges.
